Yesterday I ran. Not outside, not in the cold, but on a treadmill. This was a first-time experience for me. I always assumed it would be terribly boring to run on a treadmill and, I have to admit, I have always been a bit intimated by these machines (childhood flashback to the Jetson's cartoon where George Jetson struggles to walk his dog "Astro" on a spage-age "doggie mill").

I expected my experience to be no less productive and imagined I would find myself slipping off the machine's backend. Happily, I discovered I have total control over the pace. My conscious mind knew this, of course, but my subconscious had always been focused on images of George struggling to keep up with Astro.

I discovered that watching the news and running is an interesting mix-- a contrast to running outside, since that is usually my way to escape the routine distractions like work and the news. But, I'm a "jet-setter" this week and hotel running, news and work are all part of the agenda.
