The letter below is from my good friend, Patrick. His wife has been battling breast cancer since diagnosis in 2007. We're thankful Lisa is still with us. Fighting aggressive cancer requires aggressive fundraising. Patrick is spearheading an aggressive and earnest effort to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and Portland's Race for the Cure. Please join me in supporting Patrick, Lisa, and women everywhere.

Patrick's letter:

Dear Best Friends and Family,

I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Komen Portland Race for the Cure on September 20th, 2009 in the fight to save lives and end breast cancer forever.  I am inviting you to help however you can.  Look at the list below and do as many of these things as you can.  Lisa and I appreciate all the support you have given us over the last year and a half.  I hope to see you at the race!

1) Sign up for the race.  If you can't make it, choose the sleep in option and still be part of the team.  Follow this link and choose "Join Patrick's Team" under Lisa's picture:  Pat's Komen Page  The registration fee goes mainly to fund the race, so please make a donation which you can do on this page as well.

2) When signing up make a donation.  I know money is tight, but $77 can save a life.

3) Fundraise for the cause.  Read my page Pat's Komen Page, and make a small effort to raise to $$.

4) Recruit others to race and fundraise.

I hope to see all of you at the race!

Together, we can save lives!  Click here to visit my personal fundraising page and make a donation to my fundraising efforts.

Sincerely,

Patrick Carmody

PS - Did you know that Susan G. Komen for the Cure provided more than 8,500 screening mammograms for uninsured women in Oregon and SW Washington in 2008?  You probably don’t know that an additional 37,000 local women ages 40-64 are uninsured or underinsured and go without life saving breast cancer screenings every year.  That is why fundraising is more important than ever. Early stage women have a far greater survival rate.
