Getting off on the right foot as a runner meant beginning with the perfect pair of running shoes. Runners in my town had advised me to go to Runabout Sports to get fitted. Buying the perfect shoes involved a lot more than picking a brand name or style of shoe. At the store, a sales clerk greeted me and led me over to the fitting area. We talked about my running life, the types of trails (pavement or paths), and past foot-related problems. Then, she asked me to walk so she could observe my gait and how I placed my feet while walking. With this information and my shoe size, she headed to the back to select shoes. She returned with about eight boxes of shoes.  Narrowing the selection from eight to two went pretty fast, then I spent the next 20 minutes trying to decide between the Asics shoe and the one by Saucony.

I tried one brand on both feet and ran outside the store in the mall area. I tried one brand on one foot and the other brand on the other foot. Finally, I crossed the finish line and chose Asics. I've never regretted the decision! The difference in fit compared to the shoes I had been wearing was as different as day and night. The experience of shopping at Runabout Sports was awesome, as well. I not only learned about good fitting shoes, but running opportunities in my community. The store sponsors weekly community runs and has information on competitions. Everyone who works there is a runner. Some coach, some compete, and some run just for fun and to stay fit. Everyone brings their own passion to the sport and to helping you select the right shoes.
